The Bowling Green State University 声音诊所 offers assessment and treatment of voice disorders, 包括 hoarse/raspy/breathy voice, vocal tension/strain, 喉炎, inappropriate pitch, vocal cord paralysis, 声带结节, 喉头切除术, 等. Special emphasis is available for problems with the performing voice such as singers or professional speakers.

A customized voice treatment program is developed to address the vocal concerns and the demands of each individual.  Voice therapy may include tasks that focus on education about the voice, 直言不讳的卫生, achieving best pitch, using appropriate breath support, 讲话速度, comfortable pitch and loudness levels, and decreasing muscle tension.

• Do you become hoarse frequently?
• Do you have a hoarse voice that lasts for an extended period of time (weeks, months)?
• Do you lose your voice after talking for a long period of time?
• Does your voice sound “different”?  ( nasal, stuffy, 等.)

• Does it hurt to talk for long periods of time?
• Do you experience vocal fatigue after talking?
• Is your voice too high or too low when speaking?

If any of these symptoms last longer than three weeks, you should seek advice from your family doctor, your Ear/Nose/Throat doctor, or a speech-language pathologist (therapist).

Treatment for voice disorders will vary depending on the cause of the problem.  Most voice disorders can be successfully treated when identified and treated early.

The BGSU Speech and Hearing Clinic is a non-profit organization and provides services at reasonable rates. 费用 for services are used to maintain Clinic operations and purchase clinical materials. The Federal Register/Child 营养 项目-Income Eligibility Guidelines allow the clinic to offer an adjustable fee schedule for speech-language services that is based on family income and size.
